The Karnataka Premier League auction for the 2019 season saw seven franchises battle some intense battles to get top players. KPL teams had a cap of Rs 30 lakh to create a combination of 18 players. A total of 237 players went under the hammer. There were 35 players from Pool A while the rest were from Pool B.
Batsman Pawan Deshpande emerged as the most expensive player of the KPL Auction 2019. He was paid by Shivamoga Lions for Rs. shop for. 7.3 lakhs. Anirudh Joshi was the second most expensive player. The off-spinner was bought by Mysuru Warriors for Rs 7.1 lakhs. Both Pawan and Anirudh belonged to Pool A of the KPL auction. Jonathan Rongsen was the highest paid Pool B player, bought by the Bangalore Blasters for Rs 6 lakh.

Some key players such as Karun Nair and Shreyas Gopal went unsold due to their potential domestic and international commitments. This time, teams have the option to replace a player who was selected by a player on the auction list to play the Duleep Trophy. They will be compensated on pro-rata basis.
